The event was officially presented at the Mallorca Island Council headquarters on General Riera Street, with the attendance of the Second Vice President and Councillor for the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, the Island Director of Sports, Toni Prats, and the race’s Technical Director, Norbey Andrade, representing Unisport Consulting.
High participation is expected, reflecting the steady growth of youth cycling on the island. Mallorca currently records 336 federated cycling licences across 25 clubs, representing a 21% increase compared to 2023, confirming cycling as one of the island’s most established individual sports.
Pedro Bestard emphasised that institutional support for the Challenge goes beyond competition, highlighting its educational value in promoting sportsmanship, discipline and personal development from an early age.
First launched in 2015, the Mallorca School Cycling Challenge was paused between 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully resumed in 2024 as part of the Women’s Cycling Challenge.
