Teachers working in state-funded private schools in the Balearic Islands will receive higher seniority and training bonuses (known as “sexenios”) from 2026 onwards, following the approval of a budget update that entails an additional investment of €3 million.

The measure applies to all teaching staff with officially recognised seniority and professional development supplements and represents a significant improvement in salary conditions. Until now, funding allocated to these bonuses amounted to around €1 million, meaning the new decision effectively triples the financial commitment.

The increase forms part of a previously agreed implementation schedule with representatives of the publicly funded private education sector, and contributes to efforts aimed at harmonising pay structures and strengthening professional recognition across the education system.

This step aligns with the objectives set out in the 2023–2027 Framework Agreement, reinforcing policies focused on employment stability, fair remuneration, and the long-term sustainability of the concerted education network within the Balearic Islands.
