The Menorca Island Council has scheduled a thematic guided tour at the Talayotic settlement of Torre d’en Galmés for Sunday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m., offering participants an in-depth look at domestic life and housing organisation during the Talayotic period.
The visit will focus on the study of prehistoric dwellings, known as cercles, using archaeological evidence to explain everyday activities, household economy, family structures, and community organisation within Talayotic society. Special attention will be given to excavated areas and recent archaeological discoveries.

Guided tour at Torre d’en Galmés explores daily life in Menorca’s Talayotic period
A key element of the tour will be a comparative approach, contrasting Talayotic domestic architecture with Andalusian-period housing, highlighting both continuities and differences in how living spaces were conceived and used across historical periods. This perspective will help trace enduring concepts related to home, fire, and community life throughout Menorca’s history.
The guided tour will last approximately 90 minutes and is open to the general public. Attendance is limited to 30 participants, and advance registration is required. The meeting point will be at the main entrance to the Torre d’en Galmés archaeological site.
This initiative forms part of Menorca’s ongoing efforts to promote cultural heritage and archaeological awareness among residents and visitors alike.
