The Consell de Mallorca has presented the “Mallorca Trot Experience” at FITUR, showcasing Mallorca’s traditional trotting culture as a distinctive tourism product rooted in local heritage.
The initiative, promoted by the Instituto del Deporte Hípico de Mallorca, aims to add value to the more than 50,000 visitors who attend the Gran Premio Nacional de Trote each year, as well as the weekly trotting races held on the island.

Mallorca Island Council promotes the “Mallorca Trot Experience” at FITUR as a unique cultural tourism attraction. Guided tours through Mallorca’s trotting tradition
The Mallorca Trot Experience will offer guided cultural tours led by specialists, featuring 15 thematic stops at the Hipódromo Son Pardo.
Visitors will discover:
- The history of trotting in Mallorca
- The horses and local breeds
- The rural world and traditional breeding
- Competitions and major racing events
- Traditional crafts and professions linked to trotting
The experience will conclude with a traditional Mallorcan meal and will be available from March onwards, subject to prior booking.
Promotion at the Balearic Islands stand
The initiative was presented at the stand of the Agencia de Estrategia Turística de las Islas Baleares (AETIB).
According to Pedro Bestard, Vice President of the Island Council and Minister for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, “trotting as a tourism experience is authentic, distinctive and deeply connected to the territory, attracting high-quality visitors interested in local culture and traditions”.
The initiative also targets visitors from France, Germany and Nordic countries, where trotting culture is particularly well established.
