Plans for the new Integrated Vocational Training Centre (CIFP) in Alcúdia are progressing as scheduled, with construction works expected to begin towards the end of this year. This outlook was confirmed during an institutional visit to the site where the new educational facility will be built.

During the visit, the Minister for Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, highlighted that the tendering process for drafting the architectural project has already been launched, marking a key milestone in the development of the centre. The project design contract has a budget of €211,397.06 and an estimated completion period of five months.

The total investment required for the construction of the CIFP is estimated at €12.5 million, with part of the funding coming from the Sustainable Tourism Tax. The project will be overseen by the IBISEC and forms part of the regional strategy to strengthen vocational education and training.

The new centre will be located on a 4,479-square-metre plot and will consist of a three-storey building with a total built area of 5,146 square metres, complemented by a 520-square-metre covered porch designed to enhance connectivity with the surrounding public space. The architectural approach emphasises functionality, modern design and seamless integration with the urban environment.

Workshops, reception areas and administrative offices will be housed on the ground floor, while classrooms will occupy the upper levels. The access porch will act as a transitional space linking the building with the adjacent green area, reinforcing the centre’s open and community-oriented character.

The CIFP will offer 15 vocational training programmes across the professional fields of Administration and Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and Food Industries, including basic training, intermediate and advanced vocational qualifications, and specialised courses. The centre is expected to accommodate up to 714 students.

This new facility will significantly expand the educational provision in Alcúdia and northern Mallorca, supporting the training of skilled professionals in key economic sectors and strengthening vocational education as a strategic pathway into the labour market.

As part of the institutional agenda, the minister also visited several local primary schools to assess infrastructure needs and reaffirmed the commitment to ongoing cooperation with the Ayuntamiento de Alcúdia to address the requirements of the educational community.
