Santa Ponça Health Centre also plays a significant role in healthcare research as one of the regional nodes of the Cohorte IMPaCT, a nationwide research initiative designed to foster innovation and advance precision medicine. The project is promoted by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and is based on long-term follow-up of a large volunteer population through primary care services.
In the Balearic Islands, the initiative is being implemented in two health centres, with a target of enrolling 8,000 participants for a twenty-year follow-up period. To date, nearly 2,000 individuals have already joined the study, undergoing regular assessments, questionnaires, physical tests and sample collection to generate valuable data on lifestyle factors, environmental exposure and physical and mental health.
At Santa Ponça Health Centre specifically, more than 850 participants have already been enrolled, positioning the facility as a benchmark for community involvement in research projects aimed at improving disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Through this visit, the Ministry of Health reinforces its commitment to strong, accessible primary care closely linked to research and innovation, highlighting the essential role of healthcare professionals and citizen participation in the continuous improvement of the public health system.
