Palma, January 2026

. This measure will allow the number of available appointments to double, reducing waiting times for users.

The new service area includes 10 active customer service desks, twice the previous capacity, supported by additional staff to ensure smooth operation. The Mallorca Transport Consortium manages five desks, while five additional points are operated by the EMT de Palma, which has assigned ten extra employees to reinforce the service.

All ten service points will operate simultaneously from Monday to Saturday, offering extended opening hours: from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays. This arrangement is expected to add around 400 extra daily appointments, increasing capacity to over 5,000 appointments per week at the Intermodal station.

The Govern de les Illes Balears and the Ayuntamiento de Palma have significantly strengthened the issuance service for the Unified Transport Card by opening a new centralised facility at the Estación Intermodal de Palma

The Unified Transport Card provides access to all public transport services in Mallorca using a single card, including trains, metro services, interurban buses operated by the TIB, and Palma’s urban bus network. The integrated system enhances convenience, speeds up travel and simplifies mobility across the island.

In addition to the Intermodal station, the card can also be processed at EMT customer service offices, TIB offices in several municipalities, selected town halls, and through the regional government’s online platform.

Since its launch in early October, more than 63,500 cards have been issued, with a large proportion corresponding to first-time users. A transition period is currently underway to ensure a smooth shift to the new integrated system.

From April onwards, the Palma Citizen Card will no longer be valid as a transport ticket on urban buses, although it will remain in use for other municipal services. Users who already hold an intermodal transport card do not need to take any further action, while those without one can obtain the new Unified Transport Card free of charge.

Through this initiative, both administrations continue to advance towards greater technological and fare integration in public transport, strengthening inter-institutional coordination and delivering a more efficient, user-focused mobility system.
