Inca Regional Hospital has relaunched the “Move for Mental Health” programme, a well-established initiative aimed at improving the quality of life of users of the Mental Health Unit within the Tramuntana Health Sector. The programme is specifically designed for adult patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and strengthens a comprehensive therapeutic approach through adapted physical exercise.

The renewal of the programme has been made possible through continued collaboration between CaixaBank, the “la Caixa” Foundation and the association Yes With Cancer, reaffirming their shared commitment to mental health promotion and emotional wellbeing. Since its inception, the initiative has shown steady participation, with nearly seventy Mental Health Unit users taking part in the programme.

CaixaBank and Yes With Cancer renew the “Move for Mental Health” programme at Inca Regional Hospital

Borderline personality disorder is a complex mental condition marked by emotional instability and difficulties in affect regulation, which can significantly impact daily functioning. Within this framework, physical exercise has proven to be a highly effective complementary therapy, contributing to increased positive affect, reduced anxiety and depressive symptoms, and the development of healthier lifestyle habits.

Launched in 2022, the programme includes training sessions specifically tailored to participants’ abilities and needs. The exercise routines focus on cardiovascular fitness, strength, endurance, coordination and body awareness, and are combined with motivational techniques and emotional regulation strategies.

A key innovation introduced this year is the implementation of a digital application developed by the programme’s trainers. This tool will allow for individual data analysis and precise monitoring of training loads, enhancing personalised follow-up and optimising therapeutic outcomes for each participant.
