The Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats has introduced Docents 360, a strategic tool designed to identify and implement effective measures aimed at improving the emotional wellbeing of teachers in educational centres across the Balearic Islands. The initiative adopts a comprehensive approach, addressing both individual needs and organisational dynamics within schools.

The Minister for Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, chaired the first meeting of the working group responsible for developing this initiative. The session brought together senior officials from different departments within the Ministry, technical staff from services related to school coexistence, teaching staff management, educational inspection and occupational risk prevention, as well as external experts in educational psychology, mediation and higher education.

Education launches ‘Docents 360’ to enhance teachers’ emotional wellbeing in the Balearic Islands

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the Balearic Government’s strong commitment to emotional well-being within the education system. He recalled that the Balearic Islands were the first region in Spain to introduce general health psychologists into the educational setting, a pioneering measure currently in place in secondary schools and scheduled to be extended to primary education centres in the 2026–2027 academic year.

The Docents 360 initiative is closely linked to a research project led by academics from the Universitat de les Illes Balears, which focuses on analysing teachers’ wellbeing throughout the islands. Based on data from 5,000 teachers, the study will serve as the foundation for the design of a comprehensive Teacher Wellbeing Improvement Plan.

With the establishment of this working group, the Ministry of Education and Universities takes a decisive step towards developing practical tools and targeted actions that strengthen emotional support for teachers, promote healthier educational environments and contribute to the long-term quality and sustainability of the education system.
