Sa Quartera Centre d’Art is hosting the exhibition “Quino and Music” until 21 March, a cultural project that pays tribute to one of the most enduring creative passions of the renowned Argentine cartoonist Quino: music as a source of artistic expression and social reflection.

The exhibition offers visitors a distinctive insight into the artist’s work, focusing on the recurring presence of music throughout his drawings and comic strips. Featuring more than one hundred original pieces, the exhibition presents a carefully curated journey that blends humour, emotional depth, and critical observation—hallmarks of Quino’s unmistakable visual language.

From an institutional perspective, the exhibition stands out for its strong cultural and educational value. Each drawing invites the viewer to reflect on society, history, and human behaviour, delivering sharp and thoughtful commentary through irony and visual simplicity.

The exhibition has been produced by the Clúster de Còmic i Nous Mitjans de Mallorca in collaboration with the Ajuntament de Palma. It is curated by Judith Gociol, an expert on Quino’s body of work, and Guille Lavado, a musician and close relative of the artist. After touring several cities across mainland Spain, the exhibition now arrives in Inca, where it will remain open to the public until late March.

“Quino and Music” portrays music not only as an art form but also as a powerful symbolic space for emotion, contradiction, and social critique. Through musicians, instruments, and everyday musical scenes, Quino explores themes such as inequality, cultural tension, and the complexities of modern life, always from a deeply human and empathetic viewpoint.

Quino is widely regarded as a universal reference in graphic humour. His work, characterised by an incisive satirical tone and a highly recognisable style, has resonated across generations worldwide. Iconic characters such as Mafalda remain culturally relevant, continuing to challenge audiences with intelligence, ethical awareness, and emotional clarity.

With this exhibition, Sa Quartera Centre d’Art further consolidates its role as a key cultural venue in Inca, offering audiences access to a high-quality exhibition that celebrates creativity, critical thinking, and the enduring legacy of one of the most influential figures in contemporary comic art.
