The city of Palma unveiled a commemorative statue dedicated to Josep Maria Llompart on 28 January, marking the anniversary of his death. The event, held in the city centre, included institutional participation and the collaboration of the Obra Cultural Balear, completing a year-long tribute to one of the most significant figures in contemporary Mallorcan culture.

The sculpture, created by Mallorcan artist Georgina Gamundí, has been installed at the corner of Carrer dels Oms and Carrer de la Missió, the exact location where Llompart was born. Depicted seated on a bench, the figure adopts a welcoming and approachable posture, designed to blend naturally into the urban environment and keep his memory present in everyday city life.

During the ceremony, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà, emphasised that the sculpture integrates Llompart’s legacy into Palma’s public space permanently, reinforcing the commitment to preserving and promoting key literary and cultural references within the urban heritage.
