The Plenary Session of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa has given final approval to the general budget for the 2026 financial year, following the assessment and dismissal of the only objection submitted during the public consultation period. This decision is supported by comprehensive technical reports issued by the Secretariat, Financial Control and Treasury departments, which fully endorse the legality and robustness of the approved budget.
According to the technical assessments, the objection raised does not fall under any of the circumstances established by national regulations as grounds for invalidating a public budget, nor does it compromise its financial stability or economic viability. The reports also confirm that the budgetary procedure has been carried out in full compliance with current legislation and under the appropriate supervisory mechanisms.

The Plenary Session of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa definitively approves the 2026 budget after dismissing the submitted objections
The final 2026 budget amounts to €179.8 million, representing an increase of 24.35% compared to the previous year. The financial plan places particular emphasis on investment policies, the strengthening and expansion of public services, and social support measures. It includes a strong investment drive, improvements in key areas such as social care, mobility and road safety, and a significant rise in transfers and subsidies, with a notably substantial contribution from the Balearic Government.
Technical officers highlight that revenue forecasts are duly substantiated and that the institution has the legal tools required to adjust budget allocations throughout the year in line with actual execution, under the supervision of the financial control body. The analysis also rules out any situation of structural financial insufficiency or technical budgetary imbalance, based on the results of recent fiscal years.
With this final approval, the Consell d’Eivissa now has a fully effective budget for 2026, designed to ensure the continuity of public services, the implementation of planned investments and the institution’s economic stability.
Fee updates and improved management of public services
During the same plenary session, an amendment to the fiscal ordinance governing the Vehicle Technical Inspection fee was approved, introducing the requirement for advance payment in order to access the service. This measure aims to prevent misuse, reduce the high rate of unattended appointments and improve the overall efficiency, transparency and organization of the service.
In addition, the Plenary Session unanimously approved an amendment to the fiscal ordinance regulating administrative document fees, formally recognizing the rights of single-parent families for the first time. This change grants access to fee reductions related to competitive selection processes, broadening the social scope of the ordinance and promoting greater equity and social fairness.
