Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), the public body under the Government of the Balearic Islands, has ensured the continuity of gardening and green area maintenance services at the directly managed ports of Menorca throughout 2025, safeguarding the proper upkeep of port facilities and landscaped areas.
To this end, PortsIB has approved the recognition and payment of gardening works carried out after the expiry of the previous contract, preventing any disruption to a service considered essential for maintaining the quality and appearance of port environments.
The works were carried out by the Illa de Menorca Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, which had been awarded the original contract signed on 21 June 2021 and extended until 31 December 2024. For reasons of public interest and with the contractor’s agreement, the service continued uninterrupted between 1 January and 13 November 2025, before the commencement of the new contract, signed on 14 November 2025.

The total amount recognised for these services is €43,410.79, plus €9,116.27 in VAT, resulting in an overall total of €52,527.06.
The scope of the service covers the inner and outer ports of Ciutadella, the access road to the port facilities, and the port of Fornells. The contract establishes an initial duration of two years, with the option of an additional extension of up to 18 months, up to a maximum total duration of 42 months.
The maintenance activities include regular care of landscaped areas, brush clearing, shrub and tree pruning, topiary pruning, lawn treatment and upkeep, selective tree felling when required, replacement of damaged plants, phytosanitary treatments, and new plantings necessary to preserve the environmental and visual quality of the ports.
Through this initiative, PortsIB reaffirms its commitment to responsible, sustainable, and high-quality management of the ports of the Balearic Islands, ensuring well-maintained, functional, and welcoming port spaces for all users.
