This Monday marks the opening of the registration period for the free examination leading to the direct award of the Compulsory Secondary Education Certificate (ESO) for the year 2026 in the Balearic Islands. The call is promoted by the Ministry of Education and Universities of the Balearic Islands, through the Directorate General for Vocational Training and Educational Planning, and is aimed at adult learners seeking to officially certify this level of education.
The registration period will remain open from 2 to 16 February 2026, inclusive. This examination pathway enables adult candidates to obtain the ESO qualification without enrolling in formal education programmes, provided they successfully pass the official assessment.

Registration period opens for the 2026 free examination to obtain the Secondary Education Certificate (ESO) in the Balearic Islands. Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions to participate:
- Be 18 years of age or turn 18 during the calendar year in which the examination is held.
- Reside in the Balearic Islands.
- Not hold the ESO certificate, nor any other qualification officially recognised as fully equivalent, nor possess an approved homologation.
- Not be enrolled in any educational programme leading to the ESO qualification.
Examination dates and locations
The written examinations will take place on 21 April 2026, between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., at the following adult education centres:
- CEPA La Balanguera, Palma
- CEPA Pilar Benejam, Ciutadella
- CEPA Pitiüses, Eivissa
The oral examination in the communication field, covering English, Catalan and Spanish, will be held in person in Mallorca on 28 April 2026. In Eivissa, Formentera and Menorca, this assessment will take place on 29 April 2026 via videoconference.
