The Consell de Mallorca has successfully reduced waiting times for Vehicle Technical Inspections (ITV), ensuring that appointments can now be obtained within a maximum period of three days. This improvement has been achieved despite the temporary closure of one inspection centre, Palma I in the Son Castelló industrial area, which is currently undergoing roof refurbishment works.

At present, the highest availability of appointments can be found at the inspection station in Calvià, where inspections can be scheduled almost from one working day to the next. The stations in Inca and Manacor also offer high levels of immediate availability. Palma II currently registers the highest demand, although waiting times there are likewise limited to a maximum of three days.

The Calvià ITV station stands out as one of the centres with the greatest operational capacity and the lowest demand pressure, operating four active inspection lines. For the coming week alone, it has close to 1,000 unbooked inspection slots available, while more than 300 appointments remained unused in the previous week.

This substantial reduction in waiting times is the result of a series of measures implemented by the Department of Infrastructure and ITV since July 2023. These include extended opening hours with Saturday services during peak periods, a new service concession contract increasing annual inspection capacity by 100,000 appointments, the opening of the new Calvià station —adding approximately 9,000 inspections per month— and the extension of the mobile inspection unit service until the new facilities became operational.

As a result of these actions, waiting times have been reduced from several months in previous years to a streamlined and efficient system capable of responding quickly to public demand, thereby enhancing service quality and contributing to improved road safety across Mallorca.
