An investment of nearly one million euros has been awarded for the supply, installation, training and maintenance of new technological equipment and consumables for the digital fabrication laboratories (FabLabs) located at ParcBit Palma and CentreBit Menorca. With a total budget of €957,249.51 (VAT included), the initiative aims to strengthen the technological capabilities of both facilities and consolidate them as key infrastructures for innovation and digital manufacturing in the Balearic Islands.
The investment will expand the resources available to companies, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and R&D&I projects, reinforcing the regional technology ecosystem and supporting the development and validation of Industry 4.0 solutions. The action is aligned with strategic plans focused on attracting and retaining companies and talent at ParcBit, as well as boosting CentreBit Menorca as a territorial innovation hub.

Nearly one million euros allocated to upgrade FabLab equipment at ParcBit Palma and CentreBit Menorca
At the Mallorca site, the project contributes to the implementation of specialised infrastructures designed to develop disruptive technologies, including the consolidation of an advanced digital fabrication laboratory. In Menorca, the FabLab upgrade forms part of a multi-year plan that includes expansion and modernisation measures at the facilities in Alaior.
The contract was awarded through an open procurement procedure and is structured into three distinct lots. The first focuses on metal manufacturing and processing, incorporating advanced machinery with improved delivery times and extended warranty coverage. The second lot addresses multimaterial digital fabrication, 3D scanning and post-processing, significantly enhancing printing and digitisation capabilities. The third lot ensures the supply of technical consumables and specialised materials over the next three years.
In addition to equipment supply, the contract covers installation, commissioning, technical training and maintenance services to ensure optimal performance and maximise user benefits.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote digital transformation and technological innovation across the archipelago, reinforcing the role of FabLabs as public reference spaces for innovative project development and for fostering STEM vocations through educational courses and workshops.
