Spain has carried out a new delivery of high-capacity electric generators to Ukraine with the aim of mitigating the severe damage suffered by essential energy infrastructure as a result of the armed conflict. This action forms part of the reinforcement of the humanitarian response to the energy emergency directly affecting thousands of people across the country.

The operation is implemented through the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo, which has managed the procurement and immediate dispatch of six generators—three high-capacity units and three medium-capacity units—intended to secure electricity supply for basic services. Together, these generators will provide power to more than 14,000 people and deliver a total combined output of 6.3 megawatts.

The degradation of Ukraine’s power system, intensified by sustained attacks, has led to substantial losses in electricity generation capacity and prolonged outages, particularly critical during the winter months when temperatures drop to extreme levels. In this context, the generators will be used to sustain key infrastructure and to reduce the humanitarian impact caused by widespread power shortages.

The delivery responds to a formal request from the Ukrainian authorities, who have warned of the worsening humanitarian situation and the urgent need for emergency energy equipment to support infrastructure damaged in recent weeks. This initiative reinforces a priority line of action focused on energy security as a fundamental condition for access to essential services.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Spain has maintained a sustained commitment to the Ukrainian population through humanitarian actions targeting energy supply, healthcare, civil protection and other critical areas. This latest delivery complements previous shipments and represents the largest contribution in terms of combined power output to date, strengthening the resilience of the affected population and the overall response capacity to the crisis.
