The Consell de Mallorca, through its Department of Tourism, has introduced a new online procedure aimed at streamlining the exchange of tourist accommodation places between private individuals, specifically for properties used for tourist rentals. This initiative forms part of the institution’s broader strategy to simplify administrative processes and improve public access to digital services.

The Minister for Tourism, Guillem Ginard, presented the new digital procedure during a working meeting with representatives of the holiday rental sector, including Maria Gibert, general manager of Habtur, and Miquel Cifre, president of Febhatur. The meeting was also attended by the Island Director for Tourism Offer and Quality, Clara del Moral.

The newly implemented procedure enables owners to voluntarily and permanently deregister tourist accommodation places that were acquired for consideration and are not provisional. It also allows them to declare their intention to transfer these places to a third party or to allocate them to another property they own. All steps can now be completed through a dedicated process available on the Mallorca Island Council’s Electronic Office, replacing the previous requirement to use the general registry.

According to Minister Ginard, this administrative enhancement represents a significant step forward in terms of efficiency and ease of use, providing a clear and direct channel for a process that was previously more cumbersome. The measure also addresses a specific request from the holiday rental sector and underlines the institution’s commitment to more efficient, transparent, and user-oriented tourism governance.
