Ibiza has approved the allocation of 106 grants to support the purchase and electrification of bicycles and electric personal mobility vehicles under the 2025 funding programme, with a total investment of €33,066.91.

Of the grants awarded, 78 fall under Category A, aimed at applicants who purchased eligible vehicles within the deadlines set for this year. The remaining 28 grants correspond to Category B, intended for applicants from the 2024 call who met all requirements but were previously excluded due to budget limitations. This measure has made it possible to include applicants who were unable to receive support in the earlier round.

The programme, initially endowed with a maximum budget of €50,000, forms part of the island’s strategy to promote sustainable mobility, reduce reliance on private cars and encourage healthier, environmentally friendly transport alternatives.

The grants have supported the purchase of electric and conventional bicycles, bicycle electrification kits and electric personal mobility vehicles, helping residents transition towards more sustainable travel habits. Between 2024 and 2025, total funding awarded in this area has exceeded €83,000.

According to Mariano Juan, these measures are part of a broader mobility plan that includes the expansion of cycling infrastructure, improvements to public bus services — which have reached a record over 7 million journeys this year — and vehicle access regulations that reduced traffic by 32,000 cars during the summer season.
