The Regional Government has authorised the allocation of a €870,000 earmarked grant to ensure the continued operation and cultural programming of Fundación Es Baluard throughout 2026. The proposal was put forward by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzá.
The funding, included in the extended regional budgets for 2026, is intended to cover the museum’s operating expenses and support activities directly linked to its institutional mission. Eligible costs include staff expenditure, maintenance of the facilities, and the implementation of the exhibition and cultural activities programme scheduled for the year.
The agreement also authorises, on an exceptional basis, the advance payment of the full amount of the grant. This decision is justified on public interest grounds and aims to ensure the foundation’s financial liquidity, enabling it to meet its obligations and comply with legally established payment periods for suppliers.

€870,000 grant approved to ensure Es Baluard’s operations and cultural programme in 2026
As the foundation is largely publicly funded and classified within the European System of Accounts, the payment will be made without the requirement for prior guarantees, reflecting its institutional nature and close connection to the regional administration.
Established in 2003, the Es Baluard Foundation is a non-profit cultural institution governed by a board that includes regional, island and local authorities alongside private entities. Its core mission is the preservation, exhibition and promotion of modern and contemporary art, positioning the museum as one of the leading cultural institutions in the Balearic Islands.
