The Energy Transition Office of the Balearic Islands recorded a total of 966 inquiries in January 2026, marking the second-highest monthly figure since its launch. This result highlights the growing demand for professional energy advisory services, public subsidy management support, and technical guidance in renewable energy and efficiency projects across the region.

Most inquiries were related to public funding schemes for energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives. Specifically, 360 requests concerned assistance with subsidy applications, 214 focused on tracking the status of submitted applications, and 204 involved information about active grant calls. These figures demonstrate sustained interest in financial support mechanisms for energy transition projects.

Additional inquiries included 77 related to the MELIB Network, 43 regarding electricity and gas bill advisory services, and 34 concerning social tariff procedures. The Office also provided guidance on renewable energy production (13 cases), residential energy refurbishment (7 cases), and shared self-consumption projects managed by the Balearic Energy Institute (5 cases).

At the municipal level, technical assistance was reinforced throughout January in several municipalities across Mallorca and Menorca. Monitoring activities were conducted for public-sector PITEIB Sectores grants, and information sessions were delivered regarding the FOTOPAR26 call aimed at supporting self-consumption systems for individuals.

In Es Mercadal, advisory work continued on the REFUGIS25 subsidy file and on the awarding of the electricity framework contract. In Sant Antoni de Portmany, actions included reviewing energy audits and the Energy Infrastructure Plan of CEIP Can Coix, coordinating with social services, and supporting the collective self-consumption project at CEIP Cervantes.

The itinerant service model ensured territorial coverage, with on-site visits to Maó, Sant Lluís, Es Mercadal, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ferreries, Alaior, Sant Joan, and Calvià, strengthening accessibility and direct support for residents and local administrations.

Regarding awareness and training initiatives, an energy capacity-building workshop was delivered at CIFP Llevant in Manacor for both teaching and administrative staff, as part of the new support program for educational centres equipped with public photovoltaic installations. Furthermore, guidance sessions were launched for participants in the first shared self-consumption project of the Balearic Energy Institute in Eivissa, complementing the four operational projects in Menorca and the 25 active installations in Mallorca.

The Energy Transition Office currently operates permanent offices in Palma, Manacor, Inca, Ciutadella, Eivissa, and Formentera, alongside itinerant teams across Mallorca, Menorca, and Eivissa. The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team of 20 professionals specialising in energy transition, sustainability, and renewable energy development.
