The Consell de Govern de les Illes Balears has approved the awarding of the Gold Medal of the Balearic Islands 2026 to Mallorcan singer-songwriter Jaume Anglada, recognising an outstanding artistic career and a decisive contribution to the islands’ musical culture. The distinction highlights a body of work that bridges tradition and innovation, promotes the Catalan language through music, and sustains a long-term commitment to cultural dissemination.
The Gold Medal is the Autonomous Community’s highest honorary distinction, granted to individuals and organisations whose achievements have significantly enhanced the prestige and cultural, social, or institutional development of the Balearic Islands.
At the same meeting, the Govern de les Illes Balears approved the 15 Ramon Llull Awards 2026, honouring excellence and commitment across social, cultural, scientific, sporting, and human development. The awards ceremony will take place on 28 February at the Llotja de Palma.
