The Agencia de Estrategia Turística de las Illes Balears has welcomed a group of 30 vocational training teachers specialising in Hospitality and Tourism, representing educational centres from 24 provinces across Spain. The visit forms part of a training stay in Palma focused on digital transformation processes within the tourism sector.
The Director of AETIB, Pere Joan Planas, received the group and outlined the main strategic initiatives promoted by the Govern de les Illes Balears, through the Conselleria de Turismo, aimed at destination planning, innovation and sustainable tourism management.
The visit is part of the training program Tourism 5.0: Tourism Education in the Digital Era, organised by the CIFP Juníper Serra. The initiative seeks to strengthen the pedagogical and technological skills of vocational education teachers, aligning teaching practices with the challenges of digitalisation, sustainability and business innovation in the tourism industry.

Vocational training tourism teachers from across Spain visit AETIB to learn about the Balearic Islands’ tourism strategy
During the session, participants gained first-hand insight into destination-level tourism strategies and current technological innovations shaping the sector. In this context, the President of the Clúster Turistec, Jaume Monserrat, presented the role of technology and innovation as key drivers of competitiveness in tourism.
CIFP Juníper Serra is part of Spain’s national Network of Vocational Training Centres of Excellence, which is responsible for promoting digital and methodological transformation, developing innovation and applied research projects, organising nationwide teacher training initiatives, and reviewing emerging professional profiles to inform curriculum updates.
The visit to AETIB provided participants with a valuable opportunity to connect educational practice with institutional reality, offering a practical perspective on tourism planning and strategy in the Balearic Islands and strengthening the link between training and professional practice in the tourism sector.
