The Health Service of the Balearic Islands is launching a training programme in artificial intelligence aimed at all its professionals, to strengthen digital skills and improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare and management services. The initiative is being developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Founderz.
The programme was presented by the Minister for Health, Manuela García, together with the Director General of the Health Service, Javier Ureña, Microsoft’s Head of Health Technology Strategy and Innovation, Laura Born, and the Academic Director of Founderz, Eloi Noya.

The Health Service Promotes Artificial Intelligence Training for Its Professionals
The training will be delivered through a digital microlearning model, consisting of 21 learning units lasting between 5 and 15 minutes, complemented by practical activities that allow participants to apply their knowledge in a collaborative environment. The courses will be available on Founderz’s online platform, enabling professionals to adjust the learning pace to their schedules.
The programme provides a comprehensive overview of artificial intelligence in healthcare. It includes modules on strategic use of AI in health systems, the impact of generative AI on healthcare operations, machine learning and deep learning with real-world use cases in medical imaging, chronic disease management and pathology diagnostics, as well as training in large language models, prompt engineering and the secure integration of GPT technologies into electronic health records. Practical applications in neurology, oncology, general clinical diagnosis and precision medicine are also addressed, alongside content focused on healthcare management and process optimisation.
The training pathway is built on four core principles: knowledge internalisation, learning by doing, knowledge sharing and effective transfer to professional practice. The programme concludes with a final project in which participants design an AI-based solution applicable to the healthcare environment.
In parallel, the Health Service has approved a code of good practice governing the use of information systems, personal data processing and artificial intelligence, ensuring security, privacy and data protection for patients and citizens. A secure corporate AI assistant has also been made available to professionals, complying with national security standards and guaranteeing data sovereignty.
Within this framework, the Health Service has established the Regional Committee for Data and Artificial Intelligence Strategy, a consultative body responsible for advising on the responsible adoption of AI. This initiative forms part of the collaboration agreement with Microsoft to advance innovation, cybersecurity and digital transformation, contributing to the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Transformation, Innovation and Digital Health 2025–2029.
