In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a 10-year-old child was allegedly killed by his father on the same date. As in the previous case, no prior complaints or records of gender-based violence had been registered.

With the confirmation of these cases, the number of women killed as a result of gender-based violence in Spain rises to ten in 2026, bringing the total to 1,353 since official records began in 2003. The number of minors killed by gender-based violence stands at two so far this year, with a cumulative total of 67 since 2013. Additionally, the number of minors who would be left orphaned due to gender-based violence reaches ten in 2026 and 514 since 2013.

The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo García, together with the Government Delegate for Gender-Based Violence, Carmen Martínez Perza, have expressed their strongest rejection of these crimes and conveyed their support and sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims. Both officials have emphasized the urgent need for coordinated action by public institutions, administrations, and society as a whole to prevent and stop gender-based violence before further lives are lost.

The Ministry of Equality reiterates that comprehensive support and assistance services for victims of violence against women remain available at all times, alongside emergency response systems and digital tools designed to ensure swift intervention in situations of danger. These resources can be activated not only by victims themselves but also by anyone who is aware of or suspects a case of gender-based violence, reinforcing the shared responsibility of society in confronting and eradicating this form of violence.
