The Institute of Balearic Studies is inaugurating a commemorative exhibition dedicated to Antoni Maura on the occasion of the centenary of his death. The exhibition will open to the public on Tuesday, 24 February, at the Museum of Mallorca and will remain on display until 10 May 2026, standing out as a key cultural event within the centenary programme.
Organised by the IEB and curated by Manuel Oliver Moragues, the exhibition offers a structured and in-depth overview of Antoni Maura’s life, intellectual background and political career. Spread across three exhibition halls, the display is arranged into seven thematic sections that explore his family origins, formative influences, political thought, public impact and the social and ideological tensions generated by his reformist vision.

The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) presents the opening of the centenary exhibition of Antoni Maura, 1925–2025
The exhibition narrative is supported by a carefully curated selection of historical documents, artworks and personal items. Among the most notable elements is the original office of Antoni Maura, specially transported from the Antonio Maura Foundation in Madrid. This unique set of materials provides visitors with a comprehensive perspective on the statesman’s personal and political legacy.
The exhibition also features the screening of the documentary Maura in 12 Strokes, an audiovisual production that enhances the educational and interpretative dimension of the project. Through this multidisciplinary approach, the Institute of Balearic Studies highlights the enduring relevance of Maura’s political doctrine, his intellectual independence and his contribution to a civic tradition grounded in ethical responsibility, historical knowledge and public service.
