The Mallorca Island Council is launching the 2026 mobile roadworthiness inspection campaign for tractors and motorcycles, featuring an unprecedented territorial rollout that will provide inspection services on 328 days throughout the year. This mobile service will visit more than 40 towns and rural settlements across the island, bringing mandatory vehicle inspections closer to residents and reducing the need to travel to fixed inspection centres.

Promoted by the Department of Territory, Mobility and Infrastructure, the initiative includes a substantial increase in inspection capacity. For motorcycles, the target is to reach 10,000 inspections by the end of 2026, representing a significant rise compared to the previous year. For tractors, the campaign aims to match or exceed 1,000 inspections, strengthening a service specifically designed for agricultural and low-speed vehicles.

Mobile ITV services to ease pressure on fixed centres and improve access for rural residents

The campaign was officially presented in Son Carrió, where mobile units began operations by inspecting tractors in a nearby and easily accessible location. Two mobile units will be in operation throughout the year, from February to December, following a structured schedule that covers municipalities across Mallorca. Appointments can be booked online, ensuring streamlined access and efficient management of inspection slots.

A key feature of the 2026 campaign is the inclusion of 21 towns receiving the mobile inspection service for the first time. This expansion enhances territorial equality and responds directly to requests from local councils. The Island Council has also stated its willingness to extend the service to additional locations should further demand arise.

In addition to the visits to towns and villages, the programme includes targeted reinforcements at major inspection facilities. The Manacor ITV station will host the mobile service for 69 days to handle inspections of tractors, motorcycles and mopeds, while additional inspection capacity for two-wheel vehicles will be provided at the Palma I and Inca ITV centres during specific periods.

Through this initiative, the Mallorca Island Council aims to relieve pressure on the island’s five permanent ITV centres, improve road safety and make it easier for residents to keep their vehicles legally compliant. By minimising travel distances, particularly for slow-moving vehicles such as tractors, the mobile ITV service also helps reduce road risks and supports safer and more sustainable mobility in rural areas.
