The public transport service linking Alaró and Consell with the railway station has increased its capacity with the introduction of a larger bus on line 342. The measure aims to address high demand during peak hours and to provide improved comfort for regular users of the route.

As of this week, 70% of the services are operated with a 12-metre-long vehicle capable of carrying up to 70 passengers. This represents an increase of 40 additional seats per journey, allowing the service to better meet weekday demand and reduce overcrowding at busy times.

The deployment of the new bus follows infrastructure adaptation works carried out last year at several stops along the route. Among the most significant improvements is the extension of the stop on Joan Alcover Street in Alaró, where a new three-metre shelter was installed, and additional features were added to enhance passenger comfort.

Further works were completed in the Consell station area to ensure safe manoeuvring and operation of the larger vehicle. These included repainting road markings and adjusting certain sections of the route, without resulting in the loss of parking spaces.

Although the infrastructure works had already been completed, the start of the upgraded service was delayed until road works on Alaró’s main access road were finished, ensuring normal and safe operation from the outset.

The increase in capacity responds to a request from Alaró Town Council, which had called for improvements to the service in light of growing demand on this interurban connection.
