Mallorca has officially presented the special trotting race meeting that will take place on Sunday, March 1, at the Son Pardo racecourse in celebration of the Day of the Illes Balears. The event is designed as a major sporting and festive occasion, featuring free admission, family-friendly activities, and a programme of eight official races.

The presentation introduced the official event poster and detailed the full schedule of a meeting that brings together competition, tradition, and a celebratory atmosphere. Representatives from public institutions and key organisations linked to Balearic trotting attended the event, highlighting its significance within the regional horse racing calendar.

Mallorca unveils the Illes Balears Day trotting race meeting at Son Pardo racecourse

The race meeting will begin with a morning session starting at 11:00 a.m. and will include two flagship races. The Gran Premio Govern de les Illes Balears, endowed with €9,000, will feature the best national horses aged four and over. Alongside this, the Premio Illes Balears will offer €8,000 in prize money and will see the participation of international horses, reinforcing the global profile of Balearic trotting.

The sporting programme will be completed with the Eivissa, Formentera, and Cabrera races, as well as the Veda and Royal races for three-year-old fillies of the “N” generation. In addition, a special race for young drivers will be held, promoting early involvement and interest in the sport.

Organisers have emphasised the importance of this meeting within the Balearic trotting scene, noting both the high competitive standard and its role in showcasing the quality of local horses and drivers at national and international levels. Holding the event on the Day of the Illes Balears further strengthens the connection between sport, tradition, and regional identity, positioning Son Pardo as a key gathering place on a highly symbolic date.
