The Consell de Mallorca joins the celebration of the Balearic Islands Day with a diverse programme of public and cultural activities scheduled for Sunday, 1 March, and Monday, 2 March. Through this initiative, the island institution highlights its commitment to preserving and promoting Mallorca’s cultural heritage and traditions.

One of the main events will be a traditional gathering of giant figures outside the Palau del Consell, featuring the representations of King James II and Queen Esclarmunda of Foix. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and will open with a traditional folk dance performance by the group Aires d’Andratx.

The cultural agenda also includes an acoustic concert by Mallorcan singer-songwriter Victoria Lerma, scheduled for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the Palau del Consell. Her performance will showcase an intimate pop style marked by melodic vocals and emotional sensitivity.

In addition, the Consell de Mallorca will open its headquarters to the public through a series of free guided tours, allowing visitors to explore the institution’s main building and gain insight into its role and history. To commemorate the Balearic Islands Day, the building’s façade will be illuminated with the colours of the Mallorcan flag.

The programme is further enriched by activities organised by the Maritime Museum of Mallorca, including children’s workshops, talks, guided visits and traditional lateen sailboat demonstrations. Visitors will also be able to view a large-format photography exhibition highlighting the Serra de Tramuntana and its status as a World Heritage Site.
