Mallorca is reinforcing its commitment to a responsible tourism model through a new grant programme aimed at supporting sustainable tourism events to be held throughout 2026. The initiative, managed by the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca (FTRM), has a total budget of €1.19 million, funded through the Foundation’s 2026 budget.

The purpose of this funding scheme is to enhance Mallorca’s positioning as a leading tourist destination in sustainability, quality and accessibility, by supporting events that promote the island’s core values and contribute to the consolidation of a tourism model based on product diversification, seasonality reduction and excellence.

The call is open to private companies and non-profit organisations that organise tourism-related events with a clear sustainable focus. Priority will be given to initiatives that strengthen strategic tourism products, generate media impact and international visibility, and reach key source markets, while incorporating principles of environmental sustainability, circular economy and universal accessibility.

Mallorca allocates €1.19 million to promote events that strengthen sustainable and high-quality tourism

Eligible activities include conferences, forums, professional meetings, cultural and sporting events with tourism relevance, particularly those attracting a majority of participants from outside Mallorca. The programme also supports initiatives specifically designed to position the island as a sustainable destination, such as projects related to sustainable mobility, circular economy practices or carbon footprint compensation. For gastronomic events, the use of local products is mandatory, and when gastronomy is the main focus, at least 70% of the ingredients must be locally sourced.

All supported events must take place entirely within Mallorca and be carried out between 1 January and 31 December 2026. Within the evaluation criteria, special emphasis will be placed on timing, with higher scores awarded to initiatives that clearly contribute to reducing tourism seasonality on the island.

Grants will be awarded through a competitive selection process. The application period will be 20 calendar days, starting at 9:00 a.m. on the day following the publication of the call extract in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands and closing at 2:00 p.m. on the final day. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the electronic platform of the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca.
