The Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, in collaboration with Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), delivers a comprehensive programme of educational and participatory activities as part of the GOIB Exhibition for the Day of the Balearic Islands 2026. The initiative aims to enhance public awareness of the marine environment and encourage sustainable practices linked to the sea.

The Ministry’s dedicated area at Parc de la Mar serves as a key information hub, presenting PortsIB’s main areas of action in the management of regional ports, the enhancement of maritime safety and the integration of sustainability principles within port and coastal environments. The space also provides an opportunity to share educational initiatives focused on environmental awareness and responsible use of marine resources.

Among the scheduled activities are sailing demonstrations designed for children, held on the lake at Parc de la Mar in cooperation with the Balearic Sailing Federation. These sessions introduce young participants to sailing and nautical sports, highlighting values such as teamwork, respect for the environment and safe navigation, under the supervision of qualified instructors.

The programme is further enriched by children’s workshops focused on educational fishing and environmental awareness. These workshops combine hands-on activities with informative content on Mediterranean species, sustainable practices in ports and beaches, and the impact of marine litter on coastal ecosystems. As part of the educational approach, participants receive a symbolic item linked to marine waste collection.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle reinforces its commitment to environmental education, the promotion of maritime culture and the dissemination of responsible behaviours related to the marine environment, supporting the broader objectives of the Day of the Balearic Islands 2026.
