The Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle recorded significant public participation in the activities held as part of the 2026 Balearic Islands Day celebrations, within the framework of the Mostra GOIB at Parc de la Mar. Over three consecutive days, hundreds of families and children participated in the nautical, educational, and environmental awareness initiatives promoted by the regional department.

The Ministry’s dedicated institutional area, comprising two information tents, welcomed a steady flow of visitors interested in learning about the responsibilities of PortsIB in the comprehensive management of regional ports. Attendees received detailed information regarding strategic initiatives related to port sustainability, maritime safety, and coastal development, as well as the launch of a new edition of the Blue Week programme, which generated considerable interest among families and educational institutions.

A key highlight of the programme was the series of sailing demonstrations held on the lake at Parc de la Mar, organised in collaboration with the Balearic Sailing Federation. Throughout Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, numerous children had the opportunity to experience introductory sailing activities in a controlled and supervised environment. The initiative transformed the lake into a dynamic educational setting, fostering direct engagement with nautical sports and maritime culture.

In parallel, the children’s educational fishing workshop and environmental awareness activity, hosted in the Domo tent, achieved a high level of participation. Through practical simulations and informative sessions about Mediterranean marine species and the challenges posed by marine litter, participants gained valuable insight into the importance of marine ecosystem conservation and the need to maintain clean ports and beaches.

The substantial turnout during the Mostra GOIB reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to environmental education, the promotion of nautical sports, and the consolidation of Balearic Islands Day as an institutional platform for public engagement, civic participation, and dissemination of public policies related to the sea and the water cycle.
