A second Spanish Air and Space Force aircraft evacuates 237 Spanish citizens from the Middle East

This flight represents the second evacuation mission carried out by the Spanish Armed Forces since the crisis began. A previous operation conducted on March 5 successfully repatriated 171 citizens, strengthening the emergency response plan aimed at ensuring the safe return of Spanish nationals located in the affected region.

The evacuation effort is part of a broader coordination between government authorities and the Armed Forces to assist civilians in high-risk areas. The operational capabilities of the Air and Space Force allow long-range transport missions capable of moving large groups of passengers safely during international emergency situations.

Prior to undertaking this evacuation mission, the aircraft had arrived in Oman from Djibouti, where it had collected the 57th contingent of the Tactical Air Detachment “Orion”, which was participating in Operation Atalanta, the European Union’s mission to combat piracy in international waters. After adjusting its route, the aircraft was assigned to the operation aimed at returning Spanish citizens from the conflict zone.
