Digitalisation and the rapid development of artificial intelligence are reshaping the way people learn, work and interact. In this evolving context, these technological changes are increasingly being viewed as an opportunity for education systems to enhance learning processes and prepare students for future challenges.
During the Education Congress Exducere 2026, held in Toledo under the theme “Education is the key”, it was emphasised that digital transformation in education should be inclusive and guided by clear pedagogical objectives. The integration of technological tools in classrooms must be accompanied by a strong educational approach that keeps people at the centre of the learning process.

Digitalisation and artificial intelligence must become educational opportunities
The event, organised by the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Castilla-La Mancha through the Regional Teacher Training Centre, brought together education professionals to reflect on current challenges and explore ways to improve teaching practices in a changing world.
Speakers highlighted that education involves far more than the transmission of knowledge. It also requires supporting and guiding students so they can develop their abilities, values and personal potential. In this process, teachers play a fundamental and irreplaceable role within the educational community.
Reference was also made to a draft bill currently under development that aims to reduce classroom ratios and adjust teachers’ teaching hours. The proposal incorporates long-standing requests from the educational community and seeks to improve both teaching conditions and the overall quality of education.
The discussions also addressed the social and democratic challenges linked to the digital era. The spread of misinformation, hoaxes and hate speech through digital platforms poses new risks that schools must confront by strengthening critical thinking and responsible digital citizenship among students.
Education was also highlighted as a central pillar of public policy and investment, with a focus on ensuring equal opportunities and reinforcing the education system. Over the last seven years, Castilla-La Mancha has received more than 1.1 billion euros to strengthen its education system, representing a 160 percent increase compared with the funding levels recorded in 2018.
