Over the past year, a total of 1,052 people took part in activities held at the Son Pardo Hippodrome, an initiative designed to promote trotting culture and introduce this equestrian discipline to different social groups. The programme combines sport, tradition and social interaction, and has become a well-established activity with strong participation.

Throughout 2025, 15 guided visits to the hippodrome facilities were organised, attracting 452 participants. Most attendees came from associations for older adults, while the programme also included two special education centres and a vocational training centre whose students were undertaking practical training related to horse care and management.

The visits take place on weekday mornings and coincide with the Premium morning race meetings. This schedule allows participants to explore the venue, visit the stables and learn about the historical development of trotting in Mallorca before watching the races live. Visitors who wish to extend the experience can also enjoy lunch at the restaurant located within the hippodrome.

In addition to the guided tours, the Son Pardo Hippodrome hosted the Diada de l’Esport Saludable to mark the International Day of Older Persons. The event brought together around 600 participants for a day focused on physical activity, social interaction and healthy ageing.

The initiative aims to make the world of trotting more accessible to a wide range of social groups, particularly older people, while promoting awareness of a sporting tradition deeply rooted in Mallorca. The combination of guided visits and live racing creates a complete experience that blends sport, cultural heritage and community engagement.

Looking ahead to 2026, participation levels are expected to match or even exceed those recorded in the previous year, further consolidating this programme as a valued social and cultural activity at the Son Pardo Hippodrome.

Associations interested in participating can contact the Son Pardo Hippodrome to arrange a guided visit.
