Approximately two thousand people attended the ‘Music for Childhood’ performances organised by the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears (OSIB) over the weekend. The initiative, aimed at children aged from 0 to 6 years, took place on March 7 and 8 at the historic venue of La Llotja in Palma, reinforcing the project as an important cultural and educational activity within the orchestra’s seasonal program.
The program has been specifically designed to introduce classical music to children during the earliest stages of development. Through a carefully adapted format, families were able to take part in a musical experience focused on listening, sound exploration and sensory discovery, encouraging young audiences to engage with music in an accessible and stimulating way.

Around two thousand people enjoyed the ‘Music for Childhood’ performance by the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears this weekend
Several sessions were held across the two days, attracting families interested in sharing an early cultural experience with their children. The performances combined music education with an immersive environment, allowing attendees to enjoy the event within the distinctive architectural setting of La Llotja, one of Palma’s most emblematic historic spaces.
The concerts were conducted by Pablo Urbina, who led the orchestra in a program tailored to the needs and attention span of very young audiences. The sessions also featured Ana Gasco, a specialist in early childhood music education, who acted as facilitator and helped guide families through the musical experience.
Following the strong public response to this second edition, the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears continues to strengthen its commitment to audience development and music education. The project reflects an ongoing effort to connect music, cultural heritage and education, ensuring that access to the arts begins from the earliest stages of life.
