The Directorate General of Culture of the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports has presented the collective exhibition «Mirades de dona», an artistic initiative aimed at highlighting women’s creativity and promoting gender equality in the cultural sector. The exhibition can be visited at the Archive of the Kingdom of Mallorca, located at Ramon Llull Street number 3 in Palma, from 9 March to 17 April.

This project forms part of the cooperation established since 2018 between the regional cultural administration and the Baleària Foundation, an initiative designed to promote cultural development, strengthen social cohesion across Mediterranean territories and support the international visibility of artists from the Balearic Islands.

The exhibition «Mirades de dona» is presented

The exhibition «Mirades de dona» was conceived as a platform to recognise the artistic contributions of women creators and to strengthen their presence within the contemporary art scene. Organised by the Directorate General of Culture together with the Baleària Foundation and the cultural association Art amb B, the exhibition represents a joint commitment to encouraging artistic production from a female perspective.

Fourteen artists from different Mediterranean regions take part in the exhibition, including representatives from the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community and the autonomous city of Ceuta. The geographic diversity of the participants is accompanied by a wide range of artistic techniques and visual languages, such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, collage, photography and textile art.

Through these varied artistic expressions, the exhibition presents a multifaceted narrative shaped by different generations, creative backgrounds and personal perspectives. The works explore themes such as memory, emotional expression, identity, the relationship with nature, the representation of the female body and processes of empowerment.

Beyond its artistic dimension, the exhibition also invites visitors to reflect on the role of women within the art world and the ongoing challenges related to recognition, visibility and equality in cultural spaces.

The exhibition forms part of a travelling cultural project within the Mediterranean region. It was first inaugurated in the city of Dénia in March 2025 and later continued its route through Melilla and Ceuta before arriving in Palma, where it is now presented to the public.

Artists from the Balearic Islands participating in this edition include Ana Uceda, Natasha Lébedeva and Maria Isabel Uribe Dussà from Mallorca; Zulema Bagur from Menorca; Carmen Almécija and Marga Juan from Ibiza; and Mar Ample from Formentera.

The exhibition is open to visitors on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 to 14:30, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 19:30.
