Spain conveys support and solidarity to Middle Eastern countries amid regional instability

Spain’s approach to the situation in the Middle East is grounded in the defence of international law, the promotion of diplomatic solutions and the commitment to negotiations as the main path towards lasting peace. Within this framework, Spain continues to advocate for constructive dialogue between the parties involved and for measures aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

Lebanon has been a central topic in these diplomatic exchanges due to the recent expansion of the conflict. Spain has expressed strong condemnation of attacks affecting Lebanese territory and has highlighted the importance of safeguarding the country’s security and stability, which are considered essential for the wider regional balance. At the same time, missile launches directed at Israel have also been condemned.

In addition, emphasis has been placed on the need for all parties to fully comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. Spain has called for strict adherence to international law obligations and for progress in the disarmament plan established by the Lebanese government.

Spain has reaffirmed its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while stressing the importance of ensuring a future of peace, stability and prosperity for the Lebanese population. As part of this commitment, Spain will continue supporting the Lebanese people through a financial assistance package valued at nine million euros.
