The cultural programme ‘Primavera folk’ launches a new series of events designed to promote Mallorca’s popular culture through music, oral traditions, literature and community activities. The initiative marks the beginning of the island’s spring cultural calendar, which will later continue with additional programmes such as ‘Primavera al Jardí’ in Binissalem and ‘Versud’, taking place across several municipalities from Santanyí to the Migjorn region and other areas of Mallorca.
The programme originates from the Museu de la Paraula – Casa Rafel Ginard, located in Sant Joan, a centre dedicated to preserving and promoting the island’s oral heritage. The cycle offers a diverse range of events aimed at audiences of all ages, including immersive experiences, concerts, literary presentations and family-oriented cultural activities. Its main objective is to strengthen the transmission of intangible cultural heritage while creating spaces where tradition, storytelling and music can be shared.
The programme will open on 28 March with a sensory experience at the Bellver Ric estate in Manacor. Cultural facilitators M. Antònia Aloy and Cati Eva Canyelles will lead an immersive itinerary and workshop entitled ‘Som blat’, exploring the relationship between landscape, rural life and collective memory.

As part of the programme, the Mallorca Oral Archive will also carry out a special activity on Easter Sunday in Felanitx, recording the traditional cants de sales in order to incorporate them into the recently launched digital archive of oral heritage.
Another highlight of the cycle will be its participation in Acampallengua 2026, which will take place in Manacor. On 11 April, singer Maria Jaume will perform a concert presenting her latest musical project ‘Sant Domingo Forever’. The following day, 12 April, the programme will include a Dinar de Cantaires, combining traditional singing and music with the communal youth gathering.
A major literary event will take place on 25 April in Sant Joan, featuring a full day of cultural activities. The programme will include a family event, the presentation of the book Un gat negre al jardí by Irene Zurrón, an open reading club and the performance Recital de mentides, presented by Maria Montserrat, as part of the local celebrations for Sant Jordi.
Throughout April, the Museu de la Paraula will also host several lectures and book presentations related to Mallorca’s cultural traditions. These include ‘Guingaia’, a talk by Sebastià Barceló, a special session dedicated to traditional singing within the Mallorca Oral Archive, and the presentation of the book Cant i treball a Mallorca by Bàrbara Duran, with the participation of the author and researcher Caterina Valriu.
One of the most anticipated events of the cycle will be the presentation of the musical project ‘Aigua Ballant’ by the trio Qânât, scheduled for 17 April at the church of Consolació in Sant Joan. The concert will explore a fusion of musical influences from the Mediterranean and Central Asia.
In May, the programme will also join the celebration of the International Museum Day 2026, held under the theme “Museums uniting a divided world”. For this occasion, a Correglosa with Glosadors of Mallorca will be organised, spreading improvised poetry and spoken word across different locations as a symbol of dialogue, cultural continuity and social cohesion.
Through this cultural cycle, the spring programme aims to strengthen Mallorca’s traditional music, oral heritage and cultural identity, bringing these expressions closer to the public through a diverse and participatory series of events across the island.
