Mallorca has strengthened its position as a key destination for the audiovisual industry through its participation in the Málaga Film Festival, held from March 6 to 15. Represented by the Mallorca Film Commission, the island took part in the professional section of the festival with the aim of enhancing its international visibility as a filming location and supporting audiovisual projects connected to the region.

The island’s presence was focused within MAFIZ, the festival’s industry platform, where a comprehensive schedule of meetings was carried out with producers, film commissions and industry stakeholders. These engagements were designed to foster collaboration, attract new productions and reinforce Mallorca’s role within the global audiovisual ecosystem.

In addition, the delegation participated in strategic industry events, including sector assemblies and networking activities, enabling the establishment of partnerships and the exchange of knowledge with other territories and professionals.

Mallorca’s participation highlighted its wide range of filming locations, its professional infrastructure and the strength of its local audiovisual sector. These attributes position the island as a competitive and sustainable filming destination capable of hosting high-quality productions.

The promotion of the audiovisual sector is part of a broader economic diversification strategy aimed at generating skilled employment, stimulating economic activity and enhancing the international profile of Mallorca as a creative and cultural destination.

The festival also provided an opportunity to showcase several productions linked to the Balearic Islands featured in the programme, including feature films and short films across fiction and documentary formats. A key highlight was the premiere of “Mallorca confidencial”, presented at one of the festival’s main venues, reinforcing the visibility of Balearic talent within the contemporary audiovisual landscape.
