The Mallorca Council will launch the application process for the temporary pool of tourist accommodation quotas in residential properties on March 23, enabling interested parties to submit their applications through an online procedure. This call includes a total of 1,069 tourist places, all derived from previously released quotas, ensuring that there is no increase in the island’s overall tourist accommodation cap.

This initiative aims to reactivate the rotation system established under current tourism regulations, promoting a more balanced and efficient management of Mallorca’s tourist accommodation supply. It addresses existing demand while maintaining the established limits on tourism capacity.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the designated electronic platform, where all required documentation must be provided. The application period will remain open for fourteen calendar days, from March 23 at 9:00 a.m. until April 8 at 8:59 a.m.

A key feature of this call is the implementation of a new allocation system based on a public lottery, replacing the traditional first-come, first-served approach. This method enhances fairness, transparency, objectivity, and legal certainty by ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants. Each application will be assigned a processing number, which will be used in the official draw conducted before a public notary.

Through this measure, the Mallorca Council strengthens its regulatory framework for the tourism sector, fostering a sustainable and controlled model that optimizes available resources without increasing territorial pressure.
