The Balearic Institute of Studies has launched a new series of introductory Catalan language courses aimed at newly arrived residents, strengthening efforts to support linguistic and social integration in the Balearic Islands. The courses began on March 9 and will run until June, with 98 participants currently enrolled and a waiting list of around fifty people, reflecting strong demand.
Developed in collaboration with the Casal of Immigrant Associations and NGOs, the program has become a key entry point for learning Catalan. Initially designed to help families understand school communications, the initiative has progressively expanded to address broader social and professional needs.

The training offer now includes courses focused on workplace contexts, particularly in the hospitality sector, and has increased in duration to 40 hours. This extended format allows the courses to be recognized in administrative processes such as obtaining social integration certification. Participants who meet attendance requirements receive an official certificate.
To enhance the learning process, a dedicated teaching resource titled ‘Català inicial. El Primer tast’ has been developed. This material is specifically tailored to beginners and supports a gradual and accessible approach to language acquisition.
Following the success of previous editions, which gathered around one hundred participants in 2025, the program continues to grow as an essential tool for inclusion. It facilitates active participation in social, educational, and professional environments, reinforcing the role of language as a key factor in integration.
