President Margalida Prohens visited an energy project developed by Sampol at the Bacardí rum factory in Cataño, Puerto Rico, highlighting its contribution to energy efficiency and sustainability. The installation features a cogeneration plant powered by a dual turbine that uses liquefied petroleum gas and biogas generated during the distillation process.

This system enables the efficient use of resources by converting industrial by-products into energy, significantly reducing carbon emissions while enhancing the plant’s energy independence. The project exemplifies a circular economy approach, where production residues are repurposed as a renewable energy source.
