Three fourth-year secondary school students from CC Santíssima Trinitat, located in Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza), have been recognized as the Balearic Islands’ finalists in the 8th edition of the “Innovative Proposals for Sustainable Development Goals Challenges” competition, an initiative aimed at encouraging innovation and engagement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among young students.

The competition is part of the “Science and Technology in Feminine” program, designed to promote STEM vocations, particularly among female students, and to help reduce the gender gap in scientific and technological fields.

The awarded students presented the project “Medtri.IA,” an electronic device intended to provide medical assistance, aligned with SDG number 3, which focuses on health and well-being. The proposal stands out for its innovative approach and its potential application in healthcare environments.

The project was developed במסגרת a regional educational event held simultaneously across several technology centers in the Balearic Islands, bringing together more than 250 students from different schools. During the initiative, participants were challenged to create audiovisual proposals addressing global sustainability issues.

As recognition of their achievement, the students received technological devices and will represent the Balearic Islands in the national final, scheduled to take place in April at the Scientific Park of Miguel Hernández University in Elche.

This initiative highlights the importance of fostering digital skills, innovation, and equal opportunities in education, reinforcing the role of young talent in driving sustainable and technological development.
