The Government of the Balearic Islands has called for stronger and fairer funding of the dependency care system during its participation in the Senate, emphasizing the need to ensure long-term sustainability and adequate support for individuals and families in need of care services. The discussion took place במסגרת the General Commission of Autonomous Communities, where the financial framework of the system was a central topic.

The intervention highlighted the imbalance in current funding distribution, pointing out that the Balearic Islands receive the lowest level of state contribution among all regions. This situation poses significant challenges for service delivery, particularly in a territory affected by structural factors such as insularity, population pressure, and a high cost of living.

Concerns were also raised regarding recent national reforms, noting that the expansion of rights without sufficient financial backing could undermine the system’s stability and create expectations that may not be met. Ensuring adequate and balanced funding was identified as essential to maintaining equality across regions and safeguarding service quality.

Despite these challenges, the regional government has made considerable efforts to strengthen the system, increasing both budget allocations and the scope of services. Measures implemented include enhanced funding, improved working conditions for professionals, the introduction of new care roles, and the expansion of support resources.

Additional initiatives have focused on reducing waiting lists and improving care for vulnerable groups, particularly minors, through the extension of early intervention and specialized services.

The Balearic Government reaffirmed the importance of adhering to the legal framework that предусматривает shared financial responsibility between the state and regional administrations, calling for greater state commitment to ensure a fair, efficient, and sustainable dependency care system.
