The Consell de Mallorca has launched a new edition of the Estades per a la Gent Gran, a program aimed at people over the age of 60 that brings together 1,000 participants from across the island in 2026. The initiative takes place at the Hotel Blau Colònia Sant Jordi and is organized in two groups of 500 participants each.

The program consists of three-day stays focused on social interaction, physical activity and well-being, with the aim of promoting active ageing and strengthening social connections among participants. It includes a range of activities tailored to their interests, combining physical exercise with cultural and leisure options.

Among the activities offered are aquagym —introduced as a new feature this year—, pilates, hiking and various forms of dance such as traditional ball de bot, ballroom dancing and line dancing. Traditional games like truc and bingo are also included, along with shows and talks on mental health. Participants also have access to hotel facilities, including the spa, under an all-inclusive regime.

The Minister of Presidency, Toni Fuster, visited participants during the first group’s stay, sharing part of the day with them and highlighting the social importance of the program as a space for interaction and engagement.

A second edition is scheduled for October, offering an additional 1,000 places in Cala Mandia, with the aim of expanding participation and strengthening the initiative as part of the services available for older residents in Mallorca.
