The Department of Social Welfare of the Balearic Islands has allocated €126,583.78 to the “Labora” project, led by Cáritas Diocesana de Mallorca, with the aim of supporting the social and labor integration of individuals in vulnerable situations. The funding, sourced from the 0.7% income tax allocation, will support the program’s implementation throughout 2025 and 2026.

“Labora” is part of a long-standing initiative within the field of social economy, with more than 20 years of experience in providing structured pathways for social inclusion. The financial support is primarily used to employ specialized professionals who guide participants through their personal and training processes.

The program currently serves 25 individuals across two pre-employment workshops. One, located in Palma, focuses on the repair, recovery, and sale of toys and involves 15 participants. The second workshop, based in Inca, is dedicated to bicycle repair and includes 10 users.

Through a practical and flexible methodology tailored to individual needs, the project aims to develop personal habits, build core competencies, and strengthen self-esteem. These elements are essential in preparing participants for future vocational training or entry into the labor market.

The initiative is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers, working closely with participants to enhance autonomy and social inclusion.

This action is part of broader public policies focused on social cohesion and equal opportunities, reinforcing collaboration between public institutions and third-sector organizations to address situations of vulnerability.
