A collaboration agreement has been established to support the organisation of the international chess tournament Open Chess Menorca 2026, scheduled to take place from April 7 to 12 in Ciutadella. The event will be hosted in leading hotel venues and will bring together players from around the world, reinforcing its position as a key event in the international chess calendar.
The initiative includes a financial contribution of up to €60,000 to support the organisation of the tournament, which has a total budget of €402,000. This investment reflects a strategic commitment to promoting high-level events that generate economic impact and enhance Menorca’s international visibility.
In just a few editions, Open Chess Menorca has gained recognition among the top open tournaments worldwide, noted for its organisational quality and the participation of highly ranked players. Its rapid growth has helped position the island as an important destination within the global sports landscape.
