The Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs has allocated more than €1.2 million over the past three years to upgrade equipment in residential care homes for older people and day centres across Mallorca. This investment is part of a broader modernization strategy aimed at enhancing care quality and adapting facilities to meet current user needs.

Funding has been directed towards specialized furniture, clinical equipment, physiotherapy materials, and accessibility improvements, with the goal of strengthening both healthcare provision and overall well-being. Key investments include the provision of modern furnishings and the installation of communication systems that improve interaction between residents and healthcare staff, contributing to safer and more personalized care.

The upgrades have been implemented across several facilities managed by the Consell de Mallorca, including residences located in Palma, Felanitx, sa Pobla, Pòrtol, and Inca, as well as day centres in Palma and Llucmajor. One of the most recent initiatives is the full refurbishment of the Reina Sofia day centre, enhancing service quality through more functional and user-adapted environments.

Significant investments have also been made in facilities such as Miquel Mir, Oms-Sant Miquel, and Bartomeu Quetglas residences, reinforcing continuous improvements across the public care network. At Oms-Sant Miquel, a multisensory room has been introduced to support cognitive stimulation and sensory engagement, particularly benefiting residents with cognitive impairments by promoting relaxation and emotional well-being.

These actions demonstrate a strong institutional commitment to delivering dignified, safe, and person-centred care, supported by modern resources that enable higher standards of social and healthcare services tailored to individual needs.
